Explore some amazing space images produced by humankind’s best telescopes, and discover just how telescopes actually work in a fun and visually-appealing presentation by the Franklin Township Astronomy Club.

Fighting Fraud: Protect Yourself Against Common Scams – Friday, 9/24 at 2pm via Zoom.
Don’t get scammed! Please join us as a representative from the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs tells us how to avoid falling for common scams.
From the IRS phone scam to lottery and sweepstakes scams, to the so-called grandparent scam, it appears that imposter frauds and other criminal scams are more active than ever – and are preying on potential victims in New Jersey through phone calls, emails, and other means. Deer are everywhere! Discover the world of deer biology and all of the fun facts that make them one of the most interesting animals we regularly see in our backyards. Learn about the interactions deer have with their predators, their habitat, and humans. Presented by a naturalist from the Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center. Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia – Tuesday, 9/14 at 7pm via Zoom.
Attendees of this program will learn:
- The relationship between Alzheimer’s disease and dementia
- What happens in a brain affected by Alzheimer’s
- The risk factors for the disease
- The three general stages of the disease
- The FDA-approved treatments that available for some symptoms
- The most up-to-date information on where Alzheimer’s research is currently
- Helpful Alzheimer’s Association resources
The program is appropriate for Alzheimer’s and dementia patients, caregivers, and anyone who wants to better understand Alzheimer’s and dementia. This program is presented by the Alzheimer’s Association Greater New Jersey Chapter. Successfully Managing Stress – Wednesday, 9/15 at 10am via Zoom.
Today’s workforce is experiencing job burnout and stress due to unemployment in epidemic/pandemic proportions. People are stressed out, insecure and fearful of the future. The demands of financial stress, combined with the demands of home, have become too much for people to handle. This workshop explores the causes of such stress and suggests general and specific stress management strategies that people can use daily.

The Greater Raritan Workforce Development Board, serving Hunterdon and Somerset counties, is part of a national system of government professionals working to connect community members to searchable sources of information needed to plan first career steps or transition to new careers.

Pet Loss Support – Sunday, 9/19 at 1:15pm via Zoom.
Pet parents who have lost a pet, or anticipate a loss, gather to share stories and memories with like minds and hearts. The Friends of Nikki Pet Loss Support Group was founded 3/8/01 and has been serving the community for over 19 years.
