In 2020, long-time volunteer Marilyn Litke announced her “retirement” from teaching ESL at the library. Each week for the last 15 years, Marilyn led two English as a second language classes: an intermediate conversation group and a grammar-focused class. Her well-attended classes fostered a community of ESL students local to Franklin Township. We know her students are grateful to Marilyn for her time commitment to them, and we know she will be missed. We wish Marilyn all the best as she moves out of state to be closer to family.
Patrons who are in need of English classes in Franklin Township can find wonderful resources through the Literacy Volunteers of Somerset County (http://www.literacysomerset.org/). They offer one-on-one tutoring for beginners, several conversation groups for speakers to practice and improve their basic English, and citizenship preparation courses. Their offerings are currently all virtual due to the pandemic.
