The library is open and it’s warm and there are some fun activities for children and families coming up in the latter half of January!
Bring your picnic supper to our Family Film Cafe on Tuesday, January 23 at 7:00 p.m. and enjoy the film Leap! with your family! Two children leave their orphanage to pursue their dreams of becoming an inventor and a dancer in Paris. The animation in this film is superb and it will appeal to boys as well as girls. Please register to reserve a table. (Rated PG; 89 minutes)
How’s that again? Our Fractured Fairy Tales program will have you thinking twice about the stories you thought you knew! Be prepared for some fun with these fairy tale twists on Wednesday, January 24, at 7:00 p.m. Please register.
You have two opportunities to warm up at our World Dance Party that features dance music from around the world! A morning session will be held on Friday, January 26, at 10:45 a.m. for little ones and preschoolers accompanied by an adult caregiver, and an evening session with a slightly longer playlist will be held on Tuesday, January 30, at 7:00 p.m. Please register if you plan to attend the evening session.
Finally, there is a Gel Press Art Class for children ages 4 to 8+ years with a parent on Wednesday, January 31, at 7:00 p.m. We’ll make snowy scene monoprints plus use a special technique to paint a snowman. Space is limited, so please register if you wish to attend.
Have you joined the Winter Reading Program? Our theme is Read Around the World, and you can read anything you like – even homework counts! Register online or at the Children’s Desk and earn a free book or a trinket from the Library Treasure Chest for each 75 minutes of reading that you record!
