June 15th is the big Kickoff date for the 2017 Summer Reading Program! The theme for this summer is Build a Better World:
There is a program for each age group: Children, Teens, and Adults! The Children’s Summer Reading Program will include lots of fun activities for families to enjoy, so be sure to check the Children’s Calendar online to see what’s happening.
How does summer reading work?
First, register online or at the Children’s Desk.
Second, read 20 minutes each day that you can. You can even split up the reading and do 10 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes in the evening.
Third, log the time you spent reading online – or come to the Children’s Desk and tell us, and we’ll log it for you!
For every 100 minutes of reading, you can choose a trinket prize! (Parents: Stickers are always available for Little Ones).
What do you read?
Anything you like – including magazines, comics, and your breakfast cereal box. Of course, you can read books, too! The librarians at the Children’s Desk are always glad to help you find books you like, and the books you read for school count, too.
We want to make it as easy as possible for families to participate in summer reading, so please talk to us at the Children’s Desk and let us help you with anything you need.
