Does Spring fever have you ready to polish off your hiking books and set off on a local adventure? This program will arm you with an itinerary of hikes throughout New Jersey and Southern New York serving a broad range of abilities and interests. Hiking enthusiast and author Daniel Chazin will discuss a number of options to get outside and explore the natural scenery and beauty of our region, while providing tips on access points and requirements. Covering areas from High Point to the Pinelands, Chazin will discuss hikes ranging from short, easy walks to multi-day backpacking trips, and include hikes in the Ramapos, Wyanokies and Pinelands, in various county parks, and along the Palisades and the Delaware and Raritan Canal. As time allows, he will also discuss regions of Southern New York that are accessible for day and weekend hiking trips.
Chazin has served on the Board of the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference for over 30 years and has acted as Chair of the Publications Committee. He has edited or written many guidebooks to hiking trails, including 50 Hikes in New Jersey, the Appalachian Trail Guide to New York and New Jersey, the New York Walk Book, Harriman Trails: A Guide and History, Hike of the Week, and the New Jersey Walk Book, to name a few. For the past 12 years, he has written a hiking column for The Record, the largest newspaper of general circulation in Bergen County, New Jersey.
