View of a rural dirt lane in the Atlantic Highlands. A low wooden fence runs along the road. In the distance there is either an automobile or a cart. A shade shrouded sign reads:

Mt. Mitchell
206 feet above sea level
Highest point on Atlantic Coast
Between Maine and Florida
Navesink Park Co.

Although the sign in the photograph reads Mt. Mitchell (with an "e"), the Monmouth County Park System website (the county Mount Mitchill is located in) has it with an "i." The headland is named after Samuel Latham Mitchill.
