Elton H. L. Wade and Family :
Title:
Lelia Wade & W
Date:
10/21/1923
Description:
Lelia Wade and a male friend identified only with the initial "W." She is dressed for the outdoors in what looks to be a wool jacket, strong shoes, dark leggings and Knickerbockers (also called "rationals"). Knickerbockers were popular in the 1920s and 1930s to wear during athletic activities. She is holding a camera. Her mouth is twisted in an odd expression. There is a plain band on her left ring finger.

W. is dressed in proper street clothes, his tie slightly askew.

They are standing in a backyard - probably Elton's own yard (see photographs of Russell Benatre and Dorothy Zimmermann for comparison). There is a clothesline just behind them, and a fence separating them from some small building, likely a neighbor's garage.
